The great advantage of our online workouts

It is no secret that the world is going through a very tough time since the start of 2020.

The corona virus has affected our lives in various ways, and many of the fun things we used to do are not the same anymore.


The fitness world (contact sports in particular) are one of the areas which were affected the most. We were closed for a couple of months and our beloved Krav-Maga trainings were shut down. This was a very frustrating time for all of us, and luckily our classes are now back on track. However, as the old saying goes: “always look on the bright side of life”.


At DefenseMonkees, we discovered one big advantage during quarantine: our online workouts. No, it is not the same as a real contact Krav-Maga training. But there are other advantages you could gain from these online workouts and eventually apply during the group-trainings.


So, what are the big advantages of the home workouts we offer?

Your fitness level improves

Our live workouts are mainly aiming at improving your fitness level. But first let’s define what fitness is. Why do we need it and why is it so important?


The term fitness usually indicates how long a person can perform a certain exercise before failure (for example: running, cycling, rowing etc.). For example, a person who is already exhausted just from walking up a couple of stairs has a low fitness level.


This could also be described as “physical endurance” or “stamina”, which is the ability to maintain intense physical activity for a long period of time. The longer you can do it, the better your fitness level is

However, fitness is literally much more than that, and could be broken down into a few core elements

  • Strength
  • Stamina
  • Speed
  • Flexibility
  • Coordination

These elements indicate whether your fitness level is high or low. During our live workouts, we take all of these into account and aim at improving all of them.

Why is fitness important?

  • Faster recovery
  • When your muscles are stronger and your stamina improves, it gives you a higher tolerance for physical activity. It means that you could train on a higher level than before and your body gets used to this higher level. Thus, your body also recovers faster.

  • Achieving new limits
  • When your tolerance for physical activity increases, you can push yourself towards new limits, which is something we absolutely want to achieve with Krav-Maga. Why? Because in order to defend yourself effectively against any possible future threat, you need to develop the strongest and fittest version of yourself.

  • Improving your immune system
  • It has been scientifically proven that fitness improves your immune system and makes you overall a healthier person: physically and mentally. Engaging in physical activity strengthens your body and makes it adapt to stressful situations.

    When your body is fit, it is used to dealing with obstacles and is eventually more immune to illnesses such as the flu. Hence, during these strange and scary corona times it is even more important than ever to stay fit and healthy!

  • Lower chance to catch heart and vascular diseases
  • When training hard and improving your fitness you are also training your heart. Your heart transports oxygen to your entire body. The stronger the heart is, the more oxygen it can transport. As a result, the functioning of your heart improves, your blood pressure decreases and your cholesterol levels improve.

  • Improves your immunity to stress
  • As the fitness of your heart improves, the functioning of your heart also improves, which makes your more immune and helps you dealing with day-to-day stress

Improving your striking abilities

Next to improving your fitness level, our live workouts help you improve your striking abilities. During every workout, we work on punching, kicking, different combinations, different stances, breakfalls and holding up your guard.


All of these core skills are crucial to correct and effective Krav-Maga practice. That’s why you can benefit a lot from following these live classes and eventually apply these skills to our group-classes. When combining the live workouts with group trainings twice a week, we promise you that you will become a Krav-Maga machine!

Flexibility to plan your own work-out schedule

Many of us have a very busy life and do not always manage to make it to both group-classes every week. Did you miss a group-training because you had too much work to do? No problem!

These live workouts are always available on our Facebook page and you can do them whenever it suits you!
